What is Platform Bible?

A simple yet powerful editor, that can be expanded with additional capability, to match the needs and the ability of the Bible translator. An open source effort, developed by a community of Bible translation organizations, for translation teams of many nations. A platform for excellent Bible resources to allow the translator to become immersed in scripture.

When can I use Platform Bible?

You can download and install pre-release packages today from https://github.com/paranext/paranext-core/releases. A production-ready editor will be available in 2025.

Will it work with Paratext?

Platform Bible is the natural successor to Paratext and will integrate with Bible translation and language development tools as well or better than Paratext.

Our Story

We are an open-source platform designed to bring developers and translators together for a common purpose—translating scripture for all nations and language communities. In Platform, developers create extensions using our API, and these can be offered in the Extension Marketplace in Paratext 10 Studio for translators to add to their scripture editor. This innovative idea came out of the desire for collaboration with other developers and organizations, uniting us under the purpose of seeing a Bible translated for all language groups, showing them God’s love and grace.

With over 30+ years of experience, we have offered tried and tested software for partners all over the world, patiently supporting them as they labor to translate the Bible.

We are a collective of people who believe “every nation, tribe, people and language” (Rev 7:9) belong in God’s kingdom. We invite others to join us and to witness one another (Heb 12:1) as we help the Church translate the Scriptures for all.

Our team comprises multi-generational professionals from United Bible Societies (UBS) and SIL Global. We partner together from a variety of backgrounds and from all across the world—from the United States to Europe to New Zealand. We are proud and honored to work on an important project that transforms lives.
